Nature-Based Pediatric Physical Therapy in Delaware
Fostering gross motor development while building resilience, creativity, and connection in nature
Looking for a different approach to
traditional pediatric physical therapy?
After spending over a decade in sterile hospital and outpatient settings, I realized something was missing for my patients and their families. Living in a culture dominated by technology, screens, artificial lighting, and busy schedules, kids (and their grownups) are spending frighteningly less time in nature. Here at Under the Trees PT, I believe that having a child with therapeutic needs doesn’t have to limit time spent outdoors. In fact, spending more time under the trees may have the greatest benefit of all.
Merging over a decade of pediatric physical therapy experience with a love and knowledge of the outdoors, our nature-based therapy services provide children with the opportunity to:
Challenge their motor skills in a naturally unpredictable environment
Deeply engage their 5 senses
Have therapeutic play in a naturally unstructured space
Ground their nervous systems
Promote awareness, focus, and attention without distractions
Build curiosity and self-confidence in the natural world
Create a foundational bond with nature they carry throughout their lives
